LOCATED IN HISTORIC HARMAR VILLAGE

Each step across the historic railroad bridge, which links downtown Marietta with Historic Harmar Village, takes you further back in time - back to the site of the first settlement in the Northwest Territory. Fort Harmar was built in 1785, on the banks of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers, at the edge of what was then, an untamed wilderness. It would be three more years before General Rufus Putnam and his men built Fort Campus Martius that would later become Marietta, Ohio.

Historic Harmar Village, with its brick streets, lamp posts, restored train cars and historic buildings, is now home to various shops, eateries and three museums. (information provided by www.hartelshipyard.com)
